HANNAH'S STORY
When I voiced my fears about having to be induced to the Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwives, they reassured me that induction is quite often a very positive experience, and that, while a departure from my birth plan, I did not have to abandon it completely.
What I learned in the process of labor and delivery is that absolutely anything is possible with the right support. The Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwives, along with my tireless husband and our doula, were the right support for me that day.
Giving birth is a life-changing, paradigm-shifting, soul-defining experience. I am forever grateful to the Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwives for making mine so incredible.
BRIELE'S STORY
Being a first time mom, I couldn't be more grateful for my experience at Vanderbilt. The midwives and nurses were very respectful and honoring of my birth plan but were very informative of other options in case I wanted to pursue medication. The resources available at Vanderbilt made my husband and I that much more confident we were in the right place.

Working with midwives was amazing. The bond they form with their patients and the communication throughout the labor and delivery process is what I knew I needed.
We got to know each other throughout the process and she started to feel more like a friend to us, as opposed to our healthcare provider. It was a great experience.
The support of family, friends and our midwife in the room was unimaginable. We are forever grateful.
SHARI'S STORY
We have four beautiful daughters who were all delivered by the Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwives. It was our desire to have a natural birth but in a hospital just in case something went wrong, which is the service the midwives provide.
The midwives helped me to get to know my baby on a deeper level even before she was born.
We are so grateful for the loving care the midwives have given us.
AYELET'S STORY
When our son was born, he had some oxygen issues and the nurses decided he would need to go to the NICU. My midwife, Claire, told me to speak to my son, touch him, and give him a kiss. I followed Claire's direction and immediately my son started to regulate his breathing. Without Claire by my family's side, guiding us, I am certain he would have been taken away to NICU.
I am beyond blessed that Claire was on call that night. As I said to my husband - midwives are magic. Thank you for having such an incredible group of midwives available to the Nashville community. We are all richer for it.
LINDSEY'S STORY
I delivered my first two babies at home. When we conceived our third, my husband and I decided to seek out obstetric care that would strike a balance between the spiritual and emotional support we'd experienced with our home births and the extensive medical resources available to mamas and babies in a traditional hospital setting.
I always had a choice in my care, my questions were thoroughly answered, and both my physical and emotional comfort were considered throughout my labor and delivery. I was part of a team. Modern medicine is pretty amazing. And so are the Vandy nurse-midwives.
